Master Cleanse aka the Lemonade Diet

So I've decided to punish (test) myself by trying the Master Cleanse.  Now, I am not doing this to lose weight, this is NOT a diet for me.  I am doing this because I want to clear my intestines of all the junk that has been accumulated there for over 3 and a half decades.  I hope I have the mental toughness to finish this as with any diet, I hear that the toughest part is keeping yourself mentally strong.

For those who don't know, the Master Cleanse is a cleanse where you drink nothing but a mixture of fresh squeezed lemon juice, organic pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water.  You are also supposed to drink a laxative tea and/or a drink of unprocessed sea salt+water as a flush.

My girlfriend is away on a family vacation for 16 days so I thought this would be the perfect time to try the clease.  I say this because I think it's going to make it a lot easier not having her eating food in front of me.  My plan is to cleanse for a full 10 days although I will be happy if I get through 5 days.  Day 1 came and went, and I am pretty sure that this would be much harder if I had to smell food so although I miss my boo like crazy, for the sake of my cleanse, I'm glad she isn't here.  Even when I opened the fridge to grab more mix or water, the smell of the vinaigrette, sandwich meat, and other stuff we had in the fridge wafted into my nose and made my stomach pang to be filled with something else besides liquid.

The mixture itself is actually pretty tasty, a lot more palatable than I thought it would be.  But I made the mistake of adding double the recommended amount of cayenne pepper since my hotness tolerance is pretty high.  It wasn't the spiciness that was off, but too much, for a lack of a better description, "cayenne-iness".  I went with 1.5 Tablespoons today instead of the 2 I did yesterday and it tastes even better.

I took my dog out for a long 90 min walk last night around a local dog park and I started feeling weak during some of the longer uphill portions.   I actually planned on playing volleyball this Friday and hockey this Sunday, but now I'm not so sure I can.  Every website I've looked at says that anaerobic exercise is ok, but avoid anything that gets your heart pumping and I'm inclined to agree.  That means I can't even lift weights.  Oh well.  This is a small sacrifice to hopefully clear what I guess is 3-5 lbs of undigested gunk in my gut.

My weight yesterday was 181 lbs.  This morning I am at 180.4 lbs.  Remember, my goal is not to lose weight.  But I do need to keep track of it though as this cleanse progresses.  I am scared of losing too much muscle mass.  The only exercise I will be doing is walking the dog and perhaps stretching and rolling out my legs on the foam roller.

Oh well, if I don't check in tomorrow, someone call 911 for me as I have probably passed out, LOL
